Rwanda Day brings together Rwandans and friends of Rwanda living around the world to reaffirm their core national value of Agaciro celebrate the country's progress and discuss ways of being part of Rwanda's social-economic transformation. It is an opportunity for Rwandans to meet, interact and exchange views on their country and how they can contribute to the vision of a modern, unified and prosperous nation.

Rwanda's success depends on Rwandans living at home and abroad working together as well as partnering with friends of Rwanda to achieve set goals. Past events held in Boston, Chicago, Paris and Brussels were a resounding success and attracted many thousands of Rwandans who are committed to their country's development.

Three thousand Rwandans and friends of Rwanda from across Europe, North America and Africa gathered in London to celebrate Rwanda Day. The fourth edition of Rwanda was themed “Agaciro: Delivering Prosperity” and took place in the wake of continued economic success including the sell of Rwanda' first Eurobond and economic growth that led to one million Rwandans lifted out of poverty.

“It is when faced with challenges that a nation or a people prove their ability and their unity. Imfura do not run away from challenges and they do not change the integrity of imfura. Our history has taught us that we must be the solutions to our challenges and determine our destiny. What Africans should have in common is not the burden of dependency but the solution of self reliance. We must question the motives of those who are unwilling to see this relationship change and oppose our ambition to achieve self reliance and cease to be a burden to others. There has to come a time when we rely on ourselves. Rwanda and Africa cannot continue to live like this.” - President Kagame

Sectors Represented

1. Financial Institutions

Rwanda's financial sector has seen a 20% growth in the last five years driven by GoR enforcement of international banking standards, implementation of the “Financial Sector Development Program and policies, strategies and incentives in place to develop capital markets. Today, the financial sector in Rwanda is offering products best suited for Rwandans in Rwanda and the Diaspora. Various institutions will showcase competitive mortgage rates available for the diaspora and financing opportunities available for projects.

2. Real estate and Construction (Mortgage)

A recent study on Kigali housing market carried out by Kigali City Council showed that the city needs at least 30,000 (thirty thousand) household units each year for the next ten (10) years. The real estate and construction sector is a vibrant and a major contributor of tax
revenue in Rwanda. At the moment the construction in Rwanda is facing a major boom as
a number of prospective investors are attracted by good security in the country that has
been held for long.

3. Agro-processing

Agriculture in Rwanda is a national priority and the main productive activity for the majority of Rwandan households employing 88.6% of the working population; Second after services, agriculture contributes 33% to the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

4. ICT and Telecommunications

Investment in ICT and infrastructure figures prominently in GoR's investment plans. Laying of 2700km of the fibre optic has paved the way for more private companies to set up shop in Rwanda; from software development startup firms, to content developers and other ICT firms that will drive Rwanda's economy from agrarian based to knowledge based. The ICT Park, an infrastructure of over 60 ha will see ICT anchor firms set up shop in Rwanda.
